A boat ride on Lake Pichola is a charming way to spend a late afternoon and catch a beautiful sunset. Bordering the lake are several temples and former palaces, many of the latter now luxury hotels.
The Jag Mandir Island Palace is a beautiful stop. Constructed of yellow sandstone and marble, the Palace is now a popular wedding venue. Many believe that it served as Shah Jahan's inspiration for the Taj Mahal.

The Lake Palace, now privately run by the Taj Hotel Group, is stunning at any time of day or night as it seems to float atop the placid waters of Lake Pichola.
