One of the top experiences of the trip was the opportunity to work with birds of prey on the grounds of Glenapp Castle. Not technically falconry, because it does not involve hunting, we nevertheless enjoyed the opportunity to connect with these marvelous animals.
The bald eagle won the stare down.
The white-tailed eagle of Great Britain was the largest bird we worked with, having a wing span of more than five feet and weighing nearly nine pounds. It hit with authority!! It was near extinction in the early 20th century, but has now been successfully reintroduced in many places throughout the UK.
